hello everyone!! it’s steffi!!
this week has been a special one for me, because it’s steffi had the honor of doing a collaboration episode with none other than Slate’s pop culture podcast, ICYMI! host Candice Lim and i answered some questions from you, our ask steffi readers, including if you should have that fight about politics with a mutual in instagram DMs, or what to do when you think your sister-in-law is having an affair via her facebook posts. it’s out everywhere you get your podcasts:
i love ICYMI and am very thankful to have been able to do this. balancing writing for money versus writing for fun is a struggle that i think every writer cycles through for the entirety of their careers, and i’ve been trying to navigate my own relationship with it—particularly as it the industry seems to fall into ashes once again. so being able to interact with you and hear your questions is one of the best parts of all of this. truly!
all this to say, i appreciate every nice thing anyone’s ever said about my writing, because so much of my time writing is spent in self-attack mode (who among us has not felt this, etc etc). thank you to everyone who continues to submit questions, i hope you’re enjoying the advice column and the cultural criticism/essay content. feel free to leave comments on what you want to see: more criticism, more podcast collaborations, perhaps even bringing the weekly link drops back??
until then, it’s steffi collaborated with ICYMI!! how incredible is that!! your queries made me gasp, laugh, giggle and think. i have very strong takes about what you all should do. candice was gagged, too. i hope you enjoy it.

the newest edition of posting playbook dropped, and i offered some tips on how to politely decline someone that’s been blowing up your phone to hang out.
CT Jones’ criticism of the Justin Baldoni–Blake Lively beef over their Colleen Hoover domestic abuse trauma porn movie was spot-on.
i’ve been deeply obsessed with this viral post on chinese social media where a white girl is crying over her boyfriend and everyone’s telling her that her man is ugly in the comments.
see you very soon,
